I’m thinking Paternoster?

This weekend past we made a roadtrip to a picturesque little town on the coast of South Carolina, called Habersham. We… you ask? Well since you could probably surmise from my New York post, I was heading to Atlanta – more specifically, Douglasville – to visit my fa-mi-lia . So it was my brother, Kudu, my sis-in-law, Dawn, myself and the belle of the ball… the girl of the hour… drumroll: Claire, the Bear AKA Tootsie Roll. Yes, we are that infatuated.

So why Habersham? We went to visit and old friend of Dawn and her husband, Edie and Peter, who has turned out to be my new favorite people and I can assure you a good time was had by all! Now, with introductions out of the way, let’s get down to Paternoster… I mean, Habersham!

Blueberry & Avo muffins

I will admit. When I saw this recipe on Pinterest, I was also thinking… avo?! But when you start reading the reason behind it, it makes complete sense. It’s actually a much healthier option than oil or butter.

Ali Ebright is a food blogger and a genius! You can grab this recipe from her site Gimme Some Oven. I’ll definitely be following this site and her Pinterest boards going forward. Sampioen, Okkerneut en Tiemie Kaaskoek

Gits, dit het omtrent dink gevat om net met die titel vorendag te kom. Hoekom? Wel, ek plagiaat (klink soveel mooier as steel!) hierdie resep uit een van my skoonsus se kookboeke. Ons het dit oor die naweek gemaak as ’n voorgereg saam met sout beskuitjies en dit was beslis ’n wenner! Plus ek het dit boonop op my Facebook en Instagram profiel gepost en nou wil ’n hele paar mense die resep hê! Om die titel te vertaal het my klaar laat kopkrap, so verskoon as die res soos ’n tipiese direkte vertaling klink!

Ek weet my Afrikaanse maatjies gaan my prys vir my intelligensie, want hoe sal die uitgewers van ’n Amerikaanse tydskrif my nou ooit gevang kry…. mwuhahahahaa! Vir die arme siele wat dit nie verstaan nie, is al wat ek kan sê: Your loss!

The Museum of… ahem #coughs

Yep, this post is definitely x-rated! Since I was on a museum streak while in NY, I couldn’t resist visiting the Museum of Sex. Though this might not be everyone’s cup of tea, I found it entertaining and even informative. It’s laid out in a very interesting way and naturally leads you from one exhibition into the next via staircases.
