¡Ándale! ¡Arriba!

In the words of Speedy Gonzales: Go on! Up! Although it was more like: Go down! Since we did a fair amount of diving. Basically it boils down to bladdy amazing! What? Where? Mexico, people… Google it and scribble onto your bucket list. You will not be sorry! In my case the opportunity was presented in a neat little package right at my doorstep. It was a no-brainer… Hell yes, I’m coming with!
We flew into Cancun and were going to meet up with friends who were already there and had organized the first night’s accommodation and some diving. As for the rest of the trip, we were going to wing it – my kind of holiday! As we prepared for landing we could spot Isla Mujeres (Island of Women) in the distance. A small island off the coast of Cancun that we definitely planned to fit into the wing it catagory.

Now let me warn you right from the start, if you plan to go on this trip… It will be hot. It will be humid. Make peace with it. What you can declare warfare on, is the bugs. There are loads of them, so rather just slather yourself with bug lotion or spray. Re-apply frequently. Especially the kind that contains deet. Some people will tell you how terrible this stuff is and that you might possible grow a third nipple. In my opinion growing a third nipple vs being eaten alive by mosquitoes? I will choose deet with a song in my heart and a hop in my step – the stuff works like a dream. Moving on…

I’m thinking Paternoster?

This weekend past we made a roadtrip to a picturesque little town on the coast of South Carolina, called Habersham. We… you ask? Well since you could probably surmise from my New York post, I was heading to Atlanta – more specifically, Douglasville – to visit my fa-mi-lia . So it was my brother, Kudu, my sis-in-law, Dawn, myself and the belle of the ball… the girl of the hour… drumroll: Claire, the Bear AKA Tootsie Roll. Yes, we are that infatuated.

So why Habersham? We went to visit and old friend of Dawn and her husband, Edie and Peter, who has turned out to be my new favorite people and I can assure you a good time was had by all! Now, with introductions out of the way, let’s get down to Paternoster… I mean, Habersham!

I came, I saw, I was in awe

As you can tell from my post on NY, I spent quite some time in museums. I confess! I love pretty pictures and admire the masters behind them. I could’ve gone into more detail about every painting, but for those of you who are not art lovers it would just be a big yawn. For those who do love art, I’m sure you’ll understand what I mean when I say I was in awe. Some of these I have only seen in print and movies – it was amazing actually being there in front of them. In person. I consider myself blessed.

Start spreading the news

I’m leaving today. I want to be a part of it. New York, New York! Ol’ Frank was really onto something. You would have to be born under a rock not to know where it is! It’s a must on most bucket lists and hands down some peeps’ favorite city in the whole, wide world. How could I start my journey with just a quick layover in the Big Apple? Hell no! I decided to stay for a whole 6 days!

Given the time of year, some would think me crazy. Many in fact, told me so. February is supposedly the worst month of winter and I was guaranteed to freeze my tush off. I started keeping my eye on the weather three weeks in advance already and as departure came closer, the reports started getting more positive. Temperatures were going to be chilly, but clear blue skies were predicted by most weather sites and that was fine by me. I’ve never been one to get cold quickly, so as long as the sun was shining, I reckoned I would cope.
